The Book of Esther is a 2013 American biblical-drama film, directed by David A. R. White, starring Jen Lilley as Esther.
The film portrays a Jewish girl, Esther, who is chosen as the new queen consort to King Xerxes I of Persia and her efforts to stop evil Lord Haman's plot to exterminate the Jews. The film is loosely based on the biblical tale of The Book of Esther. It was released on June 11, 2013, in the U.S. as a direct-to-TV special. Critics have panned the film, citing numerous problems, such as poor acting, a forced script, below average set pieces, and it not being faithful to the biblical account.
