About Anna Campori

Anna Campori: The Italian Actress Who Captivated Hollywood

Anna Campori was born on September 22, 1917, in Bologna, Italy. She began her acting career in the 1930s, appearing in Italian films such as "La signorina dell'autobus" and "La casa del peccato." However, it was her performance in the 1940 film "L'assedio dell'Alcazar" that caught the attention of Hollywood.

In 1947, Campori made her American film debut in "The Paradine Case," directed by Alfred Hitchcock. She went on to appear in several Hollywood films, including "The Glass Wall" and "The Barefoot Contessa." Campori was known for her striking beauty and her ability to convey complex emotions on screen.

Despite her success in Hollywood, Campori remained connected to her Italian roots. She continued to act in Italian films throughout her career, including "La spiaggia" and "Il momento più bello."

Campori's personal life was just as fascinating as her career. She was married to Italian film director Giuseppe De Santis, with whom she had a daughter. The couple divorced in 1957, and Campori later married Italian actor and director Vittorio Gassman.

Campori's career spanned several decades, and she continued to act well into her seventies. She passed away on December 1, 2003, at the age of 86.

Anna Campori was a talented actress who captivated audiences with her beauty and her ability to convey complex emotions on screen. Her legacy lives on through her many memorable performances in both Italian and Hollywood films.
