About Anoop Desai

Anoop Desai was born on December 20, 1986, in Cary, North Carolina. He grew up in a musical family and began singing at a young age. Desai attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of the Clef Hangers, an a cappella group.

In 2009, Desai auditioned for the eighth season of American Idol and made it to the top seven before being eliminated. He gained a following with his soulful performances and was praised by the judges for his vocal ability.

After American Idol, Desai released his debut EP, All is Fair, in 2010. The EP showcased his R&B and pop influences and featured collaborations with producers such as Jim Jonsin and Ryan Tedder.
