Wrightson's career began in the late 1960s, when he started working for DC Comics. He quickly gained a reputation for his exceptional talent and attention to detail, and he soon became one of the most sought-after illustrators in the industry.

In the 1970s, Wrightson began working on his most famous project, a comic book adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The book was a critical and commercial success, and it cemented Wrightson's reputation as a master of horror illustration.

Throughout his career, Wrightson worked on a wide variety of projects, including comic books, movie posters, and album covers. He collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Stephen King, George A. Romero, and Clive Barker.

Sadly, Wrightson passed away on March 18, 2017, after a long battle with brain cancer. His legacy lives on, however, and his work continues to inspire and terrify audiences to this day.
