Boyd Gaines has been a fixture in the American theater scene for over four decades, earning four Tony Awards and numerous other accolades for his work on stage. Born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1953, Gaines grew up in a family of performers. His mother was a singer and his father was a pianist, and Gaines himself began studying piano at a young age. Gaines made his Broadway debut in 1978 in the musical "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas," and quickly established himself as a rising star in the theater world. He has also lent his voice to a number of animated projects, including "The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride" and "The Magic School Bus."

Despite his success in Hollywood, Gaines has always remained committed to the theater, and has continued to work on stage throughout his career. He has appeared in numerous productions at the Lincoln Center Theater, the Roundabout Theatre Company, and the Public Theater, among others.
