About Bryan Colangelo

Bryan Colangelo is a basketball lifer. Born in Chicago in 1965, he grew up around the game, with his father Jerry Colangelo serving as the general manager of the Phoenix Suns. After graduating from Cornell University, Bryan began his own career in the NBA, working in various front office roles for the Suns, Toronto Raptors, and Philadelphia 76ers.

Colangelo's tenure with the Raptors was particularly successful, as he helped build a team that made the playoffs in five consecutive seasons and won two Atlantic Division titles. He was named the NBA's Executive of the Year in 2007.

In 2013, Colangelo took over as the president of basketball operations for the 76ers, where he oversaw a massive rebuilding effort that culminated in the team's first playoff appearance in six years in 2018. However, his tenure in Philadelphia was marred by controversy, as he was implicated in a scandal involving anonymous Twitter accounts that criticized players, coaches, and media members.

Despite the controversy, Colangelo remains a respected figure in the basketball world, with a reputation for being a savvy evaluator of talent and a shrewd negotiator. He currently serves as a special advisor to the Chicago Bulls.
