About Charles Martin Smith
Charles Martin Smith is a versatile actor, director, and writer who has been a fixture in Hollywood for over four decades. Born on October 30, 1953, in Van Nuys, California, Smith got his start in the entertainment industry as a child actor, appearing in commercials and TV shows like "The Brady Bunch" and "The Partridge Family."
But it was his breakout role as Terry "The Toad" Fields in the 1973 classic "American Graffiti" that put Smith on the map. The film, directed by George Lucas, was a critical and commercial success, and helped launch the careers of several young actors, including Ron Howard and Harrison Ford.
Since then, Smith has appeared in dozens of films and TV shows, including "The Buddy Holly Story," "Starman," "The Untouchables," "Deep Impact," and "Dolphin Tale." He's also lent his voice to several animated projects, including "The Legend of Secret Pass" and "The Wind Rises."
In addition to his acting work, Smith has also made a name for himself as a director and writer. He made his directorial debut with the 1986 film "Trick or Treat," and has since directed several other movies, including "Air Bud," "The Snow Walker," and "Stone of Destiny." He's also written several screenplays, including "The Untouchables" and "The Snow Walker."
Throughout his career, Smith has been praised for his versatility and range as an actor, as well as his skill as a director and writer. He's won several awards for his work, including a Genie Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for "The Snow Walker," and a Writers Guild of America Award for his work on "The Untouchables."
Despite his success, Smith remains humble and grounded, and is known for his down-to-earth personality and dedication to his craft. He continues to work in the entertainment industry, and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
