About China Kantner
China Kantner: The Rebel Daughter of Rock Royalty
China Kantner was born on January 25, 1971, in San Francisco, California, to rock legends Grace Slick and Paul Kantner. Growing up in the shadow of her parents' fame, China developed a rebellious streak that would define her career and personal life.
As a teenager, China immersed herself in the punk and alternative music scenes of the 1980s, befriending musicians like Sonic Youth and Henry Rollins. She also began acting, appearing in films like "The Woodstock Reunion" and "The Auteur Theory."
In the 1990s, China's career took off with roles in indie films like "The Last Supper" and "The Evening Star." She also became a fixture on the New York City club scene, DJing at venues like CBGB and the Limelight.
But China's personal life was tumultuous. She struggled with addiction and had a strained relationship with her famous parents. In 1998, she made headlines when she was arrested for drug possession and assault.
Despite these setbacks, China continued to work in film and music. She appeared in the documentary "Grace Slick: The Acid Queen" and released an album, "Just Like Heaven," in 2001.
Today, China is a mother and continues to act and perform music. She remains a beloved figure in the alternative music scene and a symbol of rebellion and independence.
