About Chris Thomas
Chris Thomas is a British record producer who has worked with some of the biggest names in rock music. Born on January 13, 1947, in Perivale, Middlesex, Thomas began his career as a trainee tape operator at EMI Studios in London. He quickly rose through the ranks, working as an engineer on albums by The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and The Hollies.
In the 1970s, Thomas began producing records, starting with Procol Harum's "Grand Hotel" in 1973. He went on to produce albums for a diverse range of artists, including Roxy Music, The Pretenders, INXS, Elton John, and The Sex Pistols. His work on The Sex Pistols' "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols" is considered a landmark in punk rock history.
Thomas has also worked with some of the biggest names in pop music, including Paul McCartney, The Spice Girls, and Kylie Minogue. He has won numerous awards for his work, including a Grammy for his production on Pink Floyd's "The Wall."
Despite his success, Thomas has remained relatively low-key and is known for his modesty and professionalism. In an interview with The Guardian, he said, "I'm not interested in being a star. I'm interested in making good records."
Thomas continues to produce records to this day and is considered one of the most influential producers in the history of rock music. His contributions to the industry have been recognized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which inducted him in 2014.
