About Colin Mochrie
Colin Mochrie: The Improv King
Colin Mochrie was born on November 30, 1957, in Kilmarnock, Scotland. He grew up in Vancouver, Canada, where he discovered his love for comedy and improv. Mochrie began his career in the 1980s, performing with the Vancouver TheatreSports League and later with the Second City comedy troupe in Toronto.
Mochrie's big break came in 1991 when he was cast in the British improvisational comedy show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" The show became a hit in both the UK and the US, and Mochrie quickly became a fan favorite for his quick wit and dry humor. He continued to appear on the show until its cancellation in 1998.
After "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" ended, Mochrie continued to work in improv and comedy. He appeared on several other TV shows, including "The Drew Carey Show" and "Corner Gas," and he also performed in live theater productions.
In recent years, Mochrie has become a social media sensation, thanks to his hilarious tweets and Instagram posts. He has also continued to perform live improv shows, often teaming up with his "Whose Line" co-star Brad Sherwood.
Mochrie has won numerous awards for his work in comedy, including several Canadian Comedy Awards and a Gemini Award for his work on "This Hour Has 22 Minutes." He has also been inducted into the Canadian Comedy Hall of Fame.
Offstage, Mochrie is known for his philanthropic work. He is a supporter of several charities, including the Alzheimer Society of Canada and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.
Despite his success, Mochrie remains humble and grounded. He once said in an interview, "I'm just a guy who likes to make people laugh. That's all I've ever wanted to do."
