Donald Trump disparaged him as having made "big mistakes" and as a "classic RINO".

Present at the funeral service at the Washington National Cathedral were President Biden and former presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, along with First Lady Jill Biden and former first ladies Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, and Hillary Clinton (also representing her husband, former President Bill Clinton, who decided not to attend following treatment for sepsis) as well many other dignitaries.
