About Daryl Mitchell
Daryl Mitchell is a true multi-hyphenate talent, known for his work as both an actor and rapper. Born on July 16, 1965, in The Bronx, New York, Mitchell grew up in a family of musicians and performers. He began his career as a rapper in the late 1980s, performing under the name "Chill Deal."
However, it was his acting career that truly took off in the 1990s. Mitchell made his film debut in 1990's House Party, and went on to appear in a number of popular films, including The Program, Galaxy Quest, and 10 Things I Hate About You. He also had a recurring role on the hit TV series The John Larroquette Show.
In 2001, Mitchell's life took a dramatic turn when he was involved in a motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. However, he refused to let his injury slow him down, and continued to work as an actor. He appeared on the TV series Ed and Veronica Mars, and had a recurring role on the hit show The Walking Dead.
Mitchell has also been an advocate for disability rights, and has worked with organizations such as the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. In 2019, he was honored with the "Trailblazer Award" at the Media Access Awards, which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the representation of disability in media.
Through it all, Mitchell has remained a true artist, continuing to write and perform music in addition to his acting work. He is a true inspiration, both on and off the screen.
