About Derek Norris

Derek Norris: The Catcher Who Plays with Heart

Derek Norris was born on February 14, 1989, in Goddard, Kansas. He grew up playing baseball and was a standout player in high school. In 2007, he was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the fourth round of the MLB draft.

Norris made his MLB debut with the Nationals in 2012, but it was with the Oakland Athletics that he really made a name for himself. In 2014, he was named an All-Star and helped lead the A's to the playoffs.

Known for his gritty style of play and his ability to handle a pitching staff, Norris has become a fan favorite wherever he goes. He's also known for his love of heavy metal music and his tattoos, which cover much of his arms and chest.

Off the field, Norris is a devoted husband and father. He and his wife, Kristen, have two children and are active in their community.

Norris has faced his share of challenges in his career, including injuries and struggles at the plate. But he's always bounced back, thanks in part to his determination and his faith.
