Gordon's breakthrough role came in 1967 when he played the tough-talking cop Delgetti in the classic crime film "Bullitt," starring Steve McQueen. The film's iconic car chase scene, which Gordon participated in, helped cement his status as a memorable character actor.
Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Gordon continued to work steadily in film and television, appearing in popular shows such as "Kojak," "The Rockford Files," and "Hill Street Blues." He also had memorable roles in films such as "Papillon" and "The Towering Inferno."
