About Emerald Fennell
Emerald Fennell: The Multi-Talented Force Shaking Up Hollywood
Emerald Fennell is a force to be reckoned with. Born in London in 1985, Fennell has made a name for herself as an actress, filmmaker, and writer. She first gained recognition for her role as Nurse Patsy Mount in the BBC drama series Call the Midwife. But it's her work behind the camera that has really put her on the map.
Fennell made her directorial debut with the black comedy thriller Promising Young Woman, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2020. The film, which Fennell also wrote, stars Carey Mulligan as a woman seeking revenge against men who have wronged her. It's a bold and provocative film that has been praised for its unflinching look at rape culture and toxic masculinity.
But Fennell's talents don't stop there. She's also a writer, having penned episodes of Killing Eve and the second season of the hit Netflix series The Crown. And she's not done yet. Fennell is set to take over as showrunner for the third season of Killing Eve, and she's also working on a new adaptation of the classic children's book Black Beauty.
Fennell's success is all the more impressive given that she's only 35 years old. But she's been working in the industry for over a decade, honing her craft and building her reputation. And she's not afraid to take risks, as evidenced by the bold choices she made with Promising Young Woman.
With her talent, drive, and fearlessness, Emerald Fennell is a rising star in Hollywood. And we can't wait to see what she does next.
