About Gregg Zaun
Gregg Zaun: The Catcher Who Never Quit
Gregg Zaun was born on April 14, 1971, in Glendale, California. He grew up in a family of baseball players, with his father and uncle both having played in the major leagues. Zaun followed in their footsteps and became a catcher, playing for his high school team and then for the minor leagues.
In 1995, Zaun made his major league debut with the Baltimore Orioles. He played for several teams over the years, including the Toronto Blue Jays, Kansas City Royals, Houston Astros, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and Milwaukee Brewers. Zaun was known for his strong arm, his ability to call a good game, and his leadership skills.
Off the field, Zaun was also known for his outspoken personality. He was never afraid to speak his mind, even if it meant ruffling some feathers. He was also known for his sense of humor and his love of music. In fact, he once played drums for the Canadian band "The Tea Party" during a charity event.
Zaun's career was not without controversy. In 2017, he was fired from his job as a television analyst for Sportsnet after allegations of inappropriate behavior. Zaun denied the allegations, but apologized for any behavior that may have been perceived as inappropriate.
Despite the controversy, Zaun remains a beloved figure in the world of baseball. He was known for his work ethic and his determination to never give up. He played for 16 seasons in the major leagues, and even after retiring, he continued to work in the sport as a coach and analyst.
Zaun's legacy is one of hard work, determination, and a love for the game. He may have had his ups and downs, but he never lost his passion for baseball. As he once said, "I love the game. I love everything about it. I love the smell of the grass, the sound of the ball hitting the bat, the crack of the glove. It's just a beautiful game."
