About Jack D. Dunitz
Jack D. Dunitz is a British chemist and professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, known for his contributions to the field of crystallography. Born on March 29, 1923, in London, Dunitz received his education at Imperial College London and the University of Edinburgh.
Dunitz's work in crystallography has been groundbreaking, particularly in the study of molecular structures. He has published numerous papers on the subject, including a landmark paper in 1963 that introduced the concept of hydrogen bonding in crystal structures.
In addition to his research, Dunitz has also been a dedicated teacher and mentor to many students over the years. He has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to the field, including the Linus Pauling Medal in 1994 and the Royal Society of Chemistry's Tilden Prize in 2002.
