About Jaleel White
Jaleel White: From Urkel to Leading Man
Jaleel White, born on November 27, 1976, in Culver City, California, is an American actor best known for his iconic role as Steve Urkel in the hit TV show Family Matters. However, White's career has spanned far beyond his Urkel days, and he has proven himself to be a versatile and talented actor.
White began his acting career at the age of three, appearing in commercials and TV shows such as The Jeffersons and Charlie and Company. However, it was his role as Steve Urkel in Family Matters that catapulted him to fame. The character, known for his nerdy appearance and catchphrase "Did I do that?", became a cultural phenomenon in the 1990s.
Despite the success of Family Matters, White has not been typecast and has continued to take on a variety of roles. He has appeared in numerous TV shows, including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Boston Legal, and House. He has also lent his voice to several animated series, such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
In recent years, White has focused on film work, starring in movies such as Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer and The Preacher's Son. He has also made a name for himself as a producer, with credits including the web series Road to the Altar and the documentary Grown-Up Movie Star.
White's talent and versatility have earned him critical acclaim and a loyal fan base. He has been nominated for several awards, including an NAACP Image Award for his role in the TV movie Dream Date.
Beyond his acting career, White is also a writer and entrepreneur. He has written for publications such as The Huffington Post and has launched his own line of cannabis products, ItsPurpl.
Despite his success, White remains humble and grateful for his fans. "I'm just a kid from the Valley who got lucky," he once said in an interview with Rolling Stone.
