Joseph Walter "Joe" Jackson (July 26, 1928 – June 27, 2018) was an American talent manager and patriarch of the Jackson family of entertainers that includes his children Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson. He was inducted into the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame as a member of the class of 2014.
He is also known as Joseph Jackson, Joseph Walter Jackson, John Baptist, of Battersea Jackson, John Baptist Jackson, John-Baptiste Jackson, Jean-Baptiste Jackson, Joannes Baptista Jackson, Jackson of Battersea and Jackson Of Battersea Jackson.
On June 22, 2018, TMZ reported that Jackson was hospitalized in Las Vegas in the final stages of terminal pancreatic cancer. He died at a hospice in Las Vegas on June 27 at the age of 89, two days after his son Michael's ninth death anniversary and less than a month before his 90th birthday. He was surrounded by his wife and his other children.
