About Joel Hodgson
Joel Hodgson is a man of many talents. Born on February 20, 1960, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Hodgson has made a name for himself as a writer, comedian, and television actor. He is best known for creating and starring in the cult classic TV series Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K).
Hodgson began his career as a stand-up comedian in the 1980s, performing in clubs across the country. He soon caught the attention of HBO, which gave him his own comedy special in 1988. That same year, he was hired as a writer and performer on the sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live.
In 1988, Hodgson created MST3K, a show that would go on to become a beloved cult classic. The show featured Hodgson and a group of robots watching and riffing on bad movies. MST3K ran for 11 seasons and was nominated for two Emmy Awards.
After MST3K ended, Hodgson continued to work in television, creating and producing shows like The TV Wheel and The X-Files spinoff The Lone Gunmen. He also appeared as a guest star on shows like Freaks and Geeks and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.
In recent years, Hodgson has returned to his roots as a stand-up comedian, performing live shows across the country. He has also launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring back MST3K, which raised over $6 million and resulted in a new season of the show on Netflix.
Hodgson's unique brand of humor and creativity has made him a beloved figure in the world of comedy and television. He continues to inspire and entertain audiences with his work.
