About John Hillerman
John Hillerman was a versatile actor who brought a touch of class to every role he played. Born in Denison, Texas in 1932, Hillerman initially pursued a career in journalism before turning to acting in the 1950s. He made his mark on the small screen in the 1970s, with memorable appearances on shows like "Kojak" and "The Rockford Files." But it was his role as the fastidious British butler Higgins on the hit series "Magnum, P.I." that made him a household name.
Hillerman's portrayal of Higgins was a masterclass in understated comedy, and he earned four Emmy nominations for the role. But he was also a gifted dramatic actor, as evidenced by his work in films like "Chinatown" and "Blazing Saddles." Hillerman's distinctive voice was also in demand for voiceover work, and he lent his talents to everything from commercials to animated series.
Despite his success, Hillerman remained humble and grounded throughout his career. He once said, "I'm just a character actor, and I'm happy to be one. I'm not a star, and I don't want to be one." Hillerman retired from acting in the late 1990s and passed away in 2017 at the age of 84. But his legacy lives on, and his work continues to inspire and entertain audiences around the world.
