About John Michael Higgins
John Michael Higgins: The Comedic Chameleon
John Michael Higgins has been a fixture in the entertainment industry for over three decades, but it wasn't until his breakout role in the 2000 mockumentary "Best in Show" that he became a household name. Since then, he's appeared in countless films and television shows, showcasing his versatility as a comedic actor and earning critical acclaim along the way.
Born in Boston in 1963, Higgins grew up in a family of performers. His mother was a singer and his father was a pianist, and they often performed together at local clubs and restaurants. Higgins himself began acting in high school, and went on to study theater at Amherst College and the Yale School of Drama.
After graduation, Higgins moved to New York City and began working in theater, eventually landing his first film role in the 1989 comedy "The Chocolate War." He continued to work in both theater and film throughout the 1990s, but it wasn't until "Best in Show" that he truly broke through.
In the film, Higgins played Scott Donlan, one half of a gay couple competing in a dog show. His deadpan delivery and impeccable timing made him a standout among the ensemble cast, and he went on to work with director Christopher Guest on several more films, including "A Mighty Wind" and "For Your Consideration."
Higgins has also made a name for himself on television, appearing in shows like "Arrested Development," "The Office," and "Great News." He's known for his ability to play a wide range of characters, from uptight executives to zany talk show hosts.
Off-screen, Higgins is a devoted family man, married to his wife Margaret Welsh since 2003. He's also an accomplished musician, playing guitar and singing in the band The B-52's.
With his talent and versatility, John Michael Higgins shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Whether he's playing a straight man or a scene-stealing goofball, he's always a joy to watch on screen.
