Kaie Mihkelson is a force to be reckoned with in the Estonian film industry. Born on October 12, 1948, in Tallinn, Estonia, Mihkelson has been a prominent figure in Estonian theater and film for over four decades.
Mihkelson's career began in the late 1960s when she studied at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater. She quickly made a name for herself in the Estonian theater scene, performing in numerous productions at the Estonian Drama Theater and the Tallinn City Theater.
In the 1980s, Mihkelson transitioned to film, starring in several Estonian films, including "The Last Relic" (1982) and "The Heart of the Bear" (1984). She also appeared in the Finnish film "The Winter War" (1989), which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Mihkelson's most notable role came in 2002 when she starred in the Estonian film "Names in Marble." The film, which tells the story of Estonian soldiers who fought in World War I, was a critical and commercial success, winning numerous awards and becoming the highest-grossing Estonian film of all time.
In addition to her work in film and theater, Mihkelson has also been active in Estonian politics. She served as a member of the Estonian Parliament from 1999 to 2003 and was a member of the Estonian Social Democratic Party.
Despite her success, Mihkelson remains humble and dedicated to her craft. In an interview with Estonian World, she said, "I have never considered myself a star. I am an actress, and I love my job."
