About Lee J. Cobb

Lee J. Cobb was a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood during the mid-20th century. Born in New York City in 1911, Cobb began his acting career on Broadway before transitioning to film in the 1940s. He quickly made a name for himself with his powerful performances, often playing tough, no-nonsense characters.

Cobb's most famous role was as Juror #3 in the 1957 film "12 Angry Men." His portrayal of the angry, bigoted juror was so convincing that it earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He continued to work steadily in film and television throughout the 1960s and 1970s, appearing in such classics as "The Exorcist" and "The Godfather."

Off-screen, Cobb was known for his political activism. He was a vocal supporter of civil rights and was blacklisted during the McCarthy era for his left-leaning views. Despite this setback, he continued to work in Hollywood and remained a respected figure in the industry until his death in 1976.

Cobb's legacy lives on through his powerful performances and his commitment to social justice. He was a true icon of his time and a trailblazer for future generations of actors.
