About Louise Fletcher

Louise Fletcher was a Hollywood icon, known for her captivating performances on the big screen and television. Born on July 22, 1934, in Birmingham, Alabama, Fletcher grew up in a family of musicians and artists. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studied drama and became involved in theater productions.

Fletcher's breakout role came in 1975 when she played the role of Nurse Ratched in the film adaptation of Ken Kesey's novel, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." Her performance earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, and she became an instant Hollywood legend.

Throughout her career, Fletcher appeared in numerous films and television shows, including "Brainstorm," "The Cheap Detective," and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." She also had a recurring role on the hit TV series "Picket Fences," for which she won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Despite her success, Fletcher remained humble and dedicated to her craft. She once said, "I'm just an actress. I'm not a movie star. I'm not a celebrity. I'm just an actress who loves to act."

Fletcher passed away on July 23, 2022, at the age of 88. Her legacy as a talented and respected actress will live on through her many memorable performances on stage and screen.
