About Lyudmila Gnilova
Lyudmila Gnilova was a Soviet and Russian actress born on February 12, 1944. She began her acting career in the 1960s and quickly became a prominent figure in the Soviet film industry. Gnilova was known for her versatility and ability to portray a wide range of characters.
One of her most notable roles was in the 1975 film "The Irony of Fate," which has become a beloved New Year's Eve tradition in Russia. Gnilova played the role of Nadia, a woman who is mistaken for another woman with the same name and ends up in a different city on New Year's Eve. The film has been praised for its humor and commentary on Soviet life.
Gnilova continued to act in films throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including the 1987 film "The Theme," which won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. She also appeared in several television series, including the popular Russian drama "The Street of Broken Lights."
In addition to her acting career, Gnilova was also involved in politics. She was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and later the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. She served as a member of the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament, from 1999 to 2003.
Gnilova passed away on December 3, 2018, at the age of 74. She was remembered for her contributions to Russian cinema and her dedication to political activism.
