She went on to star in several Swedish films, including "The Adversary" and "The Apple War," which won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1971.

In the early 1970s, Ek moved to Hollywood to pursue her career in the United States. She quickly landed roles in films such as "The Night Visitor" and "The Ultimate Thrill." Her breakthrough in Hollywood came in 1975 when she starred in the cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" as Columbia, the groupie. The film became a cultural phenomenon and catapulted Ek to international fame.

Ek continued to work in Hollywood throughout the 1970s and 1980s, appearing in films such as "The Great White Hope" and "The Hand." She also made appearances on television shows such as "Kojak" and "Starsky and Hutch."

In the 1990s, Ek returned to Sweden and continued to work in film and television. She starred in the Swedish film "The Best Intentions," which was directed by Ingmar Bergman and won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1992.
