About Parker Posey

Parker Posey: The Queen of Indie Cinema

Parker Posey is a force to be reckoned with in the world of independent cinema. Born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1968, Posey grew up in a creative household, with her father working as a chef and her mother as a chef and a writer. Posey's love for the arts was evident from a young age, and she began studying ballet at the age of three.

After attending the State University of New York at Purchase, Posey moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting. She quickly made a name for herself in the indie film scene, with breakout roles in films like "Dazed and Confused" (1993) and "Party Girl" (1995).

Posey's unique blend of quirkiness and vulnerability made her a favorite among indie filmmakers, and she went on to star in a string of critically acclaimed films, including "The House of Yes" (1997), "The Daytrippers" (1996), and "Clockwatchers" (1997).

In addition to her film work, Posey has also made a name for herself on the small screen, with memorable roles in shows like "Louie" (2010-2015), "The Good Wife" (2009-2016), and "Parks and Recreation" (2009-2015).

Despite her success, Posey has remained committed to the indie film scene, often working with up-and-coming filmmakers and taking on challenging roles. In a 2015 interview with The Guardian, Posey spoke about her love for indie cinema, saying, "I like the idea of being part of something that's not mainstream. I like the idea of being part of something that's a little bit more underground."

Posey's dedication to her craft has earned her numerous accolades, including a Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival for her performance in "The House of Yes" and a Gotham Award for her work in "Personal Velocity" (2002).

With over 100 film and television credits to her name, Parker Posey has cemented her status as one of the most talented and versatile actresses of her generation. As she continues to take on new and exciting projects, there's no doubt that Posey will remain a fixture in the world of indie cinema for years to come.
