Percy Watson: The Football Star Turned WWE Superstar
Percy Watson, born on August 19, 1981, in Jacksonville, Florida, is a former American football player and current professional wrestler. Watson had a successful career in football before transitioning to the world of wrestling, where he has made a name for himself as a WWE superstar.
Watson played college football at the University of Miami, where he was a standout wide receiver. He was a member of the 2001 national championship team and was named to the All-Big East team in 2003. After college, Watson signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2005. He also spent time with the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks before retiring from football in 2009.
In 2010, Watson began training at the WWE Performance Center and made his debut on the NXT brand in 2011. He quickly became a fan favorite with his energetic personality and flashy in-ring style. Watson was known for his signature move, the "Percy-cution," a diving crossbody from the top rope.
Watson's time in WWE was highlighted by his partnership with Darren Young as part of the tag team, The Prime Time Players. The duo won the WWE Tag Team Championship in 2015 and were a popular act with fans.
After leaving WWE in 2017, Watson pursued other ventures, including hosting a game show on the Game Show Network and working as a commentator for the World Armwrestling League.
Throughout his career, Watson has been known for his charisma and athleticism. He has also been a positive role model, using his platform to promote education and encourage young people to pursue their dreams.
