About Phife Dawg
Phife Dawg, born Malik Isaac Taylor on November 20, 1970, was a legendary rapper and member of the influential hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest. He was known for his smooth flow, clever wordplay, and witty lyrics that often touched on social issues.
Growing up in Queens, New York, Phife Dawg met Q-Tip and Ali Shaheed Muhammad in high school, and the trio formed A Tribe Called Quest in the late 1980s. The group's debut album, "People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm," was released in 1990 and was a critical and commercial success.
Phife Dawg's contributions to the group's subsequent albums, including "The Low End Theory" and "Midnight Marauders," helped cement A Tribe Called Quest's place in hip-hop history. He was known for his distinctive voice and playful rhymes, which often referenced his love of sports and his struggles with diabetes.
