About Ray Liotta
Ray Liotta: The Bad Boy of Hollywood
From his breakout role as the menacing Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese's "Goodfellas" to his recent turn as the corrupt mayor in "Shades of Blue," Ray Liotta has made a career out of playing tough, complex characters. But behind the tough exterior lies a man with a deep passion for acting and a desire to push himself to new heights.
Born in Newark, New Jersey in 1954, Liotta grew up in a working-class family and was drawn to acting at a young age. After studying at the University of Miami, he moved to New York City to pursue his dream, landing his first role in the soap opera "Another World" in 1978.
But it was his turn as Henry Hill in "Goodfellas" in 1990 that catapulted Liotta to stardom. His intense performance earned him critical acclaim and established him as one of Hollywood's most promising actors.
Over the years, Liotta has continued to take on challenging roles, from the troubled cop in "Cop Land" to the grieving father in "The Place Beyond the Pines." He has also dabbled in television, earning an Emmy nomination for his role in the miniseries "The Rat Pack."
Off-screen, Liotta has struggled with addiction and has been open about his battles with alcoholism. But he has also used his platform to raise awareness about addiction and to support organizations that help those struggling with substance abuse.
Sadly, Liotta passed away on December 8, 2022, at the age of 67. He leaves behind a legacy of unforgettable performances and a commitment to using his talent for good.
