About Riquna Williams
Riquna Williams: The Sharpshooter from Florida
Riquna Williams was born on May 28, 1990, in Pahokee, Florida. She grew up playing basketball with her brothers and quickly developed a love for the game. Williams attended Pahokee High School, where she became a standout player and earned a scholarship to the University of Miami.
At Miami, Williams continued to excel on the court, setting records and earning accolades. She was named the ACC Player of the Year in 2012 and finished her college career as Miami's all-time leading scorer. Williams was then drafted by the Tulsa Shock in the second round of the 2012 WNBA Draft.
Williams quickly made a name for herself in the WNBA with her sharpshooting and scoring ability. In 2013, she set a WNBA record by scoring 51 points in a single game, a feat that still stands today. Williams has also been named an All-Star twice and won the WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year award in 2018.
Off the court, Williams has faced some challenges. In 2019, she was suspended for 10 games for a domestic violence incident. Williams has since apologized and worked to make amends, and she has been praised for her efforts to raise awareness about domestic violence.
Despite the setback, Williams remains a key player in the WNBA. She currently plays for the Los Angeles Sparks and is known for her tenacity and scoring ability. Williams has said that she hopes to continue playing basketball for as long as she can, and her fans are eager to see what she will accomplish next.
