About Robbie Ray
Robbie Ray: The Left-Handed Ace
Robbie Ray was born on October 1, 1991, in Brentwood, Tennessee. He grew up playing baseball and football, but ultimately chose to pursue a career in baseball. Ray attended Brentwood High School, where he was a standout pitcher and led his team to a state championship in 2010.
After high school, Ray was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 12th round of the 2010 MLB draft. He spent several years in the Nationals' minor league system before being traded to the Detroit Tigers in 2013. Ray made his MLB debut with the Tigers in 2014 and spent two seasons with the team before being traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2015.
Since joining the Diamondbacks, Ray has established himself as one of the top left-handed pitchers in the game. In 2017, he was named an All-Star and finished seventh in the National League Cy Young Award voting. Ray's success continued in 2018, as he posted a 3.93 ERA and struck out 165 batters in 123.2 innings pitched.
Off the field, Ray is known for his work with the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation, which supports various charitable organizations in the Phoenix area. He is also an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hunting and fishing in his free time.
Despite his success, Ray remains humble and focused on improving his game. "I'm always trying to get better," he says. "I'm never satisfied with where I'm at."
With his talent and work ethic, Robbie Ray is poised to continue his success on the mound for years to come.
