About Robert Hardy
Robert Hardy was a British actor who made a name for himself on stage, screen, and television. Born on October 29, 1925, in Cheltenham, England, Hardy was the son of a headmaster and a concert pianist. He attended Oxford University, where he studied English and was a member of the university's dramatic society.
Hardy began his acting career in the 1950s, appearing in a number of stage productions in London's West End. He made his film debut in 1958 in the movie "Torpedo Run," and went on to appear in a number of films throughout the 1960s and 1970s, including "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold," "Nicholas and Alexandra," and "Mary, Queen of Scots."
However, it was on television that Hardy became a household name. He played the role of Siegfried Farnon in the long-running BBC series "All Creatures Great and Small," which aired from 1978 to 1990. He also appeared in a number of other popular British television shows, including "The Forsyte Saga," "Winston Churchill: The Wilderness Years," and "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets."
Hardy was known for his versatility as an actor, and his ability to play a wide range of characters. He was also a respected Shakespearean actor, and appeared in a number of productions of the Bard's plays throughout his career.
Hardy passed away on August 3, 2017, at the age of 91. He was remembered by his colleagues and fans as a talented and dedicated actor, who had made a significant contribution to British theatre, film, and television.
