Robin Duke: The Comedy Queen Who Taught the Greats
Robin Duke, born on March 13, 1954, in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, is a comedy legend who has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry. She is an actress, writer, and comedian who has worked with some of the biggest names in comedy. Her career spans over four decades, and she has left an indelible mark on the industry.
Duke started her career in the late 1970s as a member of the Second City comedy troupe in Toronto. She quickly became one of the most popular members of the group and was known for her sharp wit and impeccable timing. Her talent caught the attention of Lorne Michaels, the creator of Saturday Night Live (SNL), who offered her a spot on the show in 1981.
Duke was a cast member on SNL for three seasons, from 1981 to 1984. During her time on the show, she created some of the most memorable characters, including Wendy Whiner and Judy Miller. She also impersonated a number of celebrities, including Nancy Reagan and Brooke Shields.
After leaving SNL, Duke continued to work in television and film. She appeared in a number of popular TV shows, including Seinfeld, The Larry Sanders Show, and Gilmore Girls. She also had roles in films such as Groundhog Day and The Ladies Man.
In addition to her work as an actress, Duke is also a comedy teacher. She has taught at the Second City Training Center in Toronto and Los Angeles and has worked with some of the biggest names in comedy, including Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Steve Carell.
Duke's contributions to the world of comedy have not gone unnoticed. In 2014, she was inducted into the Canadian Comedy Hall of Fame. She continues to work in the industry and is still making audiences laugh with her unique brand of humor.
