About Rod Coronado
Rod Coronado is a Native American eco-anarchist and animal rights activist who has been at the forefront of the environmental and animal rights movements for over three decades. Born on July 3, 1966, in Arizona, Coronado is a member of the Pascua Yaqui tribe and has dedicated his life to fighting for the rights of animals and the protection of the environment.
Coronado's activism began in the 1980s when he became involved in the Earth First! movement, a group of environmental activists who used direct action to protect the environment. He quickly became one of the movement's most prominent members, known for his passionate speeches and willingness to put his body on the line to protect the environment.
In the 1990s, Coronado turned his attention to animal rights, becoming a leading figure in the Animal Liberation Front (ALF), a group that uses direct action to rescue animals from laboratories and other places of abuse. Coronado was involved in a number of high-profile ALF actions, including the release of mink from fur farms and the destruction of a research facility at Michigan State University.
Coronado's activism has not come without consequences. In 1995, he was arrested and charged with arson for his role in the Michigan State University action. He was sentenced to 57 months in prison and served four years before being released in 1999. Despite the risks, Coronado has continued to be a vocal advocate for animal rights and the environment.
Today, Coronado continues to be a leading voice in the environmental and animal rights movements. He has spoken at numerous conferences and events, and his work has been featured in documentaries and news articles. He is also the author of the book "Fire and Ice: The Awakened Heart of the Earth," which explores his experiences as an activist and the importance of protecting the environment.
Coronado's activism has inspired countless others to join the fight for the environment and animal rights. His dedication and passion have made him a true icon of the movement, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of activists.
