About Russ Meyer
Russ Meyer was a true iconoclast, a filmmaker who reveled in the excesses of sex and violence. Born in 1922 in Oakland, California, Meyer grew up in a world of pulp fiction and B-movies, and he would go on to become one of the most influential directors of his generation.
Meyer's films were a celebration of the female form, and he was famous for his buxom leading ladies, including Tura Satana, Kitten Natividad, and Erica Gavin. His movies were often criticized for their explicit content, but Meyer was unapologetic, insisting that he was simply reflecting the realities of the world around him.
In addition to his work in film, Meyer was also an accomplished photographer, and his images of women were just as provocative as his movies. He was a master of the art of the pin-up, and his photographs of women in various states of undress are still highly sought after today.
Despite his controversial reputation, Meyer was a true artist, and his influence can be seen in the work of countless filmmakers and photographers who have followed in his footsteps. He died in 2004, but his legacy lives on, a testament to his unique vision and his uncompromising spirit.
