About Scott Boras
Scott Boras: The Most Powerful Sports Agent in America
Scott Boras is the most powerful sports agent in America, representing some of the biggest names in baseball, including Bryce Harper, Max Scherzer, and Gerrit Cole. Born on November 2, 1952, in Sacramento, California, Boras grew up playing baseball and went on to play for the University of the Pacific. After a brief stint in the minor leagues, he turned to law and earned his degree from the University of the Pacific's McGeorge School of Law.
Boras began his career as a sports agent in the early 1980s, representing several players in the Major Leagues. He quickly gained a reputation for being a tough negotiator and for getting his clients top dollar contracts. Over the years, Boras has negotiated some of the biggest contracts in baseball history, including Alex Rodriguez's $252 million deal with the Texas Rangers in 2000.
Boras has also been a vocal advocate for players' rights, often speaking out against team owners and the league. He has been involved in several high-profile disputes with teams over contract negotiations and has been instrumental in helping players secure better working conditions and salaries.
Despite his reputation as a tough negotiator, Boras is also known for his close relationships with his clients. He is often seen at games and practices, and he is known for being deeply involved in his clients' lives both on and off the field.
Today, Boras is the head of the Boras Corporation, a sports agency that represents more than 175 professional baseball players. He has been named the most powerful sports agent in America by Forbes magazine and has been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame for his contributions to the sport.
