About Scotty Hopson
Scotty Hopson: The Rise of a Basketball Star
Scotty Hopson was born on August 8, 1989, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. From a young age, he showed a natural talent for basketball, and by the time he was in high school, he was already making a name for himself as one of the most promising players in the state.
After graduating from high school, Hopson went on to play college basketball at the University of Tennessee, where he quickly established himself as a star player. During his time at Tennessee, he averaged 12.7 points per game and was named to the All-SEC First Team in 2011.
In 2011, Hopson declared for the NBA draft and was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round. However, he was soon traded to the Dallas Mavericks, where he spent most of his time playing for their G-League affiliate, the Texas Legends.
Despite his success in the G-League, Hopson struggled to make a name for himself in the NBA. He had brief stints with the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder but was never able to establish himself as a regular player.
In 2014, Hopson decided to take his talents overseas, signing with the Greek team Olympiacos Piraeus. He quickly became a fan favorite in Greece, helping Olympiacos win the Greek Cup in 2015 and the Greek League championship in 2016.
After three seasons in Greece, Hopson returned to the United States, signing with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA G-League. He had a standout season with the Skyforce, averaging 19.7 points per game and earning a spot on the All-NBA G-League Second Team.
In 2019, Hopson signed with the Israeli team Hapoel Jerusalem, where he continued to showcase his skills as one of the top players in Europe. He helped lead Hapoel Jerusalem to the Israeli League championship in 2020 and was named the Finals MVP.
Throughout his career, Hopson has proven himself to be a versatile and talented player, capable of playing multiple positions and contributing in a variety of ways. With his combination of athleticism, shooting ability, and basketball IQ, he has become one of the most respected players in the international basketball community.
