About Shemar Moore
Shemar Moore: The Smooth Operator
Shemar Moore has been a fixture on American television for over two decades, thanks to his good looks, charm, and acting talent. Born on April 20, 1970, in Oakland, California, Moore grew up in a multicultural family, with an African-American father and a mother of Irish and French-Canadian descent. He attended Santa Clara University, where he played college football and majored in communications.
Moore's first big break came in 1994, when he landed the role of Malcolm Winters on the long-running soap opera The Young and the Restless. He played the character for eight years, earning a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2000. Moore's success on the show led to other opportunities, including a stint as a host on the music video show Soul Train and guest appearances on shows like Living Single and The Jamie Foxx Show.
In 2005, Moore landed his most high-profile role to date, as FBI Special Agent Derek Morgan on the hit crime drama Criminal Minds. He played the character for 11 seasons, becoming a fan favorite for his tough-guy persona and his chemistry with his co-stars. Moore left the show in 2016 to pursue other projects, but returned for the series finale in 2020.
Moore's success on Criminal Minds led to other acting opportunities, including a recurring role on the CBS drama S.W.A.T. and a lead role in the 2017 film The Bounce Back. He has also hosted several awards shows, including the Soul Train Awards and the BET Awards.
Off-screen, Moore is known for his philanthropic work, particularly his support of multiple sclerosis research. His mother, Marilyn, was diagnosed with the disease in 1998, and Moore has been a vocal advocate for finding a cure. He has also been involved with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Race to Erase MS charity.
Moore's personal life has also been the subject of media attention, thanks to his high-profile relationships with actresses Halle Berry and Toni Braxton. He has been open about his struggles with relationships and his desire to find a lasting connection.
At 51, Moore shows no signs of slowing down. He continues to act, host, and support charitable causes, all while maintaining his status as one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors. With his smoldering good looks and easy charm
