Sterling Shepard: The Rising Star of American Football
Born on February 10, 1993, in Oklahoma City, Sterling Shepard was destined to become a football player. His father, Derrick Shepard, was a former NFL wide receiver, and his mother, Cheri Shepard, was a track and field athlete. Shepard grew up playing football and excelled in the sport from a young age.
Shepard attended Heritage Hall High School in Oklahoma City, where he was a standout athlete. He played football, basketball, and ran track. In his senior year, he was named the Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year after catching 73 passes for 1,244 yards and 18 touchdowns.
After high school, Shepard attended the University of Oklahoma, where he continued to excel on the football field. He played for the Sooners from 2012 to 2015 and was a two-time All-Big 12 selection. In his senior year, he caught 86 passes for 1,288 yards and 11 touchdowns.
In 2016, Shepard was drafted by the New York Giants in the second round of the NFL Draft. He quickly became a key player for the team, starting in all 16 games of his rookie season. He finished the season with 65 receptions for 683 yards and eight touchdowns.
Since then, Shepard has continued to be a vital part of the Giants' offense. He has played in 54 games for the team, catching 269 passes for 3,185 yards and 19 touchdowns. He has also been a team captain and a leader on and off the field.
Off the field, Shepard is known for his philanthropic work. He and his wife, model and actress Chanel Iman, founded the Shepard Iman Foundation, which focuses on improving the lives of children and families in underserved communities.
With his talent, leadership, and dedication to making a difference, Sterling Shepard is poised to become one of the NFL's brightest stars.
