About Susan Brown
Susan Brown: The British Actress Who Conquered the Stage and Screen
Susan Brown was born on May 6, 1946, in Bristol, England. She grew up in a working-class family and showed an early interest in acting. After studying drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, she began her career in the theater, performing in productions of Shakespeare, Chekhov, and other classic plays.
In the 1980s, Brown made the transition to television and film, appearing in a variety of roles in popular British shows such as "The Bill," "Midsomer Murders," and "Doctor Who." She also had supporting roles in several films, including "The Iron Lady" and "The Theory of Everything."
But it was her role as Septa Unella in the hit HBO series "Game of Thrones" that brought Brown international recognition. Her character, a member of the religious order known as the Faith Militant, became infamous for her repeated chant of "Shame!" as she punished Cersei Lannister for her sins.
Despite her success on screen, Brown has remained committed to the theater. She has performed in numerous productions in London's West End and at the Royal Shakespeare Company, earning critical acclaim for her performances in "Angels in America" and "The Audience."
Offstage, Brown is known for her activism and advocacy work. She has been a vocal supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and has worked with organizations such as Stonewall and the Albert Kennedy Trust to promote equality and acceptance.
At 75 years old, Brown shows no signs of slowing down. She continues to take on challenging roles and inspire audiences with her talent and dedication to her craft.
