About Sylvester McCoy

Sylvester McCoy is a British actor best known for his portrayal of the seventh incarnation of the Doctor in the long-running sci-fi series Doctor Who. Born on August 20, 1943, in Dunoon, Scotland, McCoy began his career as a street performer before transitioning to acting.

McCoy's breakthrough role came in 1987 when he was cast as the Doctor in Doctor Who. He played the character for three seasons, from 1987 to 1989, and then reprised the role for the show's 30th-anniversary special in 1993. McCoy's portrayal of the Doctor was known for its eccentricity and quirkiness, and he quickly became a fan favorite.

In addition to Doctor Who, McCoy has appeared in a variety of other TV shows and films, including The Hobbit trilogy, Sense8, and The Bill. He has also worked extensively in theater, both as an actor and a director.
