About Thomas Walkup
Thomas Walkup: The Small-Town Kid Who Took the Basketball World by Storm
Thomas Walkup was born on December 30, 1992, in Pasadena, Texas. Growing up in a small town, Walkup had a passion for basketball from a young age. He played for his high school team, where he quickly made a name for himself as a talented player.
After graduating from high school, Walkup attended Stephen F. Austin State University, where he continued to play basketball. During his time at the university, Walkup became one of the most successful players in the school's history. He was a two-time Southland Conference Player of the Year and led his team to three conference championships.
In 2016, Walkup made history when he led his team to an upset victory over West Virginia in the NCAA Tournament. He scored 33 points in the game, becoming the first player from a Southland Conference school to score 30 or more points in an NCAA Tournament game.
After graduating from college, Walkup pursued a professional basketball career. He played for several teams in Europe before signing with the Chicago Bulls in 2017. Although he only played in a few games for the Bulls, Walkup's talent and work ethic earned him a reputation as a promising young player.
In 2018, Walkup signed with the Greek team Panathinaikos. He quickly became a fan favorite, with his aggressive playing style and impressive scoring ability. Walkup helped lead his team to the Greek Cup championship in 2019 and was named the MVP of the tournament.
Off the court, Walkup is known for his dedication to his family and his community. He frequently volunteers at local schools and charities, and he has spoken publicly about the importance of education and hard work.
Despite his success, Walkup remains humble and focused on improving his game. He continues to work hard every day, striving to become one of the best basketball players in the world.
