About Tina Turner
Tina Turner is a living legend. Born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee, on November 26, 1939, she rose to fame as the lead singer of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue in the 1960s and 1970s. Her powerful voice and electrifying stage presence made her one of the most dynamic performers of her time.
But Turner's success was not without its challenges. She endured years of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her husband and musical partner, Ike Turner. In 1976, she left him and launched a solo career that would make her an international superstar.
Turner's solo hits include "What's Love Got to Do with It," "Private Dancer," and "The Best." She has sold over 100 million records worldwide and won 12 Grammy Awards. In 1991, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Turner's life story was also the subject of a hit biopic, "What's Love Got to Do with It," starring Angela Bassett as Turner and Laurence Fishburne as Ike. The film was a critical and commercial success and helped to cement Turner's place in music history.
Today, Turner lives in Switzerland with her husband, Erwin Bach. She continues to perform and record music, and her influence can be heard in the work of countless artists who have followed in her footsteps.
