About Tom Arnold
Tom Arnold: The Wild Ride of a Comedic Maverick
Tom Arnold has always been a force to be reckoned with. Born in Iowa in 1959, he grew up in a tumultuous household, marked by poverty, abuse, and addiction. But he found solace in comedy, and after a stint in the meatpacking industry, he moved to Minneapolis to pursue his dream of becoming a stand-up comedian.
It wasn't long before Arnold caught the attention of Roseanne Barr, who was then a rising star in the comedy scene. The two hit it off and soon became a couple, eventually marrying in 1990. Arnold became a writer and producer on Barr's hit sitcom, "Roseanne," and also appeared on the show as her on-screen husband.
But Arnold's personal life was far from stable. He struggled with addiction and infidelity, and his marriage to Barr was marked by frequent fights and public scandals. The couple divorced in 1994, and Arnold's career suffered as a result.
But Arnold refused to give up. He continued to work in Hollywood, appearing in films like "True Lies" and "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery," as well as TV shows like "Sons of Anarchy" and "The Goldbergs." He also returned to stand-up comedy, touring the country and honing his craft.
Arnold's personal life has also improved. He has been sober for over a decade and has remarried, this time to Ashley Groussman, with whom he has two children. He has also become an advocate for mental health and addiction recovery, using his own experiences to help others.
Through it all, Arnold has remained a maverick, unafraid to speak his mind and take risks. As he once said, "I'm not afraid to fail. I'm not afraid to look stupid. I'm not afraid to be a fool." And that fearlessness has made him one of the most beloved and enduring figures in comedy.
