About Crime Story
Crime Story was a groundbreaking television show that aired from 1986 to 1988. Created by Michael Mann, the show followed the lives of Chicago police officers and mobsters during the early 1960s. The show was praised for its gritty realism, complex characters, and innovative storytelling.
At the center of the show was Detective Lieutenant Mike Torello, played by Dennis Farina, who was tasked with taking down the ruthless mob boss Ray Luca, played by Anthony Denison. The show was notable for its use of flashbacks, which added depth and complexity to the characters and their relationships.
Crime Story was also praised for its attention to detail, with the show's creators going to great lengths to recreate the look and feel of 1960s Chicago. The show's soundtrack, which featured classic rock and roll songs from the era, also helped to create a sense of time and place.
Despite its critical acclaim, Crime Story struggled in the ratings and was cancelled after two seasons. However, the show's influence can still be felt today, with many modern crime dramas owing a debt to its groundbreaking style and storytelling.
