About The Golden Palace
The Golden Palace was a spin-off of the popular 80s sitcom The Golden Girls, which followed the lives of four older women living together in Miami. The new show saw the remaining three women, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia, purchase a hotel and try their hand at running it. The show premiered in 1992 and lasted for just one season.
Despite the star power of the returning cast, The Golden Palace failed to capture the same magic as its predecessor. Critics panned the show for its lack of originality and reliance on recycled jokes. The absence of beloved character Dorothy, who was played by Bea Arthur, was also felt by fans.
Despite its short run, The Golden Palace did feature some notable guest stars, including Don Cheadle and Cheech Marin. The show also tackled some serious issues, such as homelessness and discrimination, in its storylines.
Overall, The Golden Palace was a disappointing follow-up to The Golden Girls. While it had its moments, it failed to capture the same charm and wit that made the original show a classic.
