Our plain-language privacy policy

Privacy Policy

This is our plain-language Privacy Policy. It is easy to read and outlines our use of your information as well as our third-party partners.

In a Nutshell

In a nutshell, we are good guys when it comes to privacy. It’s really important to us that your privacy is protected and honored while browsing here. (It’s one of the reasons we use https by default!)

We don’t collect any information about you personally. However, some of our advertising and social media partners may do that. You can read more about that below. There’s also a list of partners at the bottom of the page with links that allow you to have better control over your online privacy.

We may collect some information about your browsing on our site. e.g. we may keep a statistics about how many times a page was visited so we can create fun lists like our trending pages.

We never collect any personal or identifiable information about you whatsoever.

Cookies

To make this site work properly, we sometimes place small data files called cookies on your device. Most big websites do this too.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.

Our Cookies

We use cookies just a little bit for presenting information to you, or not showing you information more than once (e.g. we use cookies to ensure we don’t show the cookies notice on every page visit … oh the irony!) We personally don’t track you around the web or do anything nasty.

Other Peoples’ Cookies

We do rely on advertising and social media to help fund us. These services are crucial to keeping us online. We use third-party services that use cookies to personalise content and ads, to provide social media features and to analyse our traffic. These cookies may share information about your use of our site with our social media, advertising and analytics partners who may combine it with other information you’ve provided to them or they’ve collected from your use of their services.

You can change the settings for how Google uses your information for advertising (we use Google to run our ads). Go to Ad Settings to take control.

How to control cookies

You can control and/or delete cookies as you wish – for details, see aboutcookies.org. You can delete all cookies that are already on your computer and you can set most browsers to prevent them from being placed. If you do this, however, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site and some services and functionalities may not work.

Third Party Privacy Policies

Here are links to the third party privacy policies we spoke about earlier. Check them out and see if you’re cool with them. We use them, so if you are on our site, you are using them too.

Mailing List

We offer a mailing list. There are three types of email we may send you: Daily digest of celebrity deaths and upcoming birthdays. Weekly digest of celebrity deaths and upcoming birthdays. Newsletter (rarely used).

When signing up for the email list, you will be enrolled in all three categories. You can manage these by clicking the link in the bottom of one of our emails.

Data About You

To send you email, we need to collect and store your email address. To comply with GDPR and emerging regulation, we require an opt-in process whereby you confirm your email address. We will store the details of that opt-in process (time/date etc) to ensure we can prove that the owner of an email on our mailing list took proactive measures to be there.

We do keep tabs on stats such as emails being opened and other engagements. This will benefit you in the event that after a prolonged period of inactivity regarding our emails, we may choose to expunge your address from our list.

We will never sell your details.

You can unsubscribe at any time.

You can change your preferences at any time.

Have Fun!

Now that’s taken care of, have a look around. There’s so much interesting stuff happening here.
